Okay everyone, Rafer here perfecting my very first blog post ever.
Now, there is one thing I want everyone to take away from my first-ever blog post; this is going to be one hee-haw of a wedding! Which means bring your square-dancing shoes, and make sure they are comfortable enough for the pleasant walk from the Nordic Heritage Museum to Sunset Hill Park. (Remember, you are all to meet at the museum at 3:30 pm, from where you will walk to the park to witness the cleaving together of Sarah and myself. And don't fret, the walk will be chaperoned.)
As if this first-ever blog post weren't enough, below you will find a link to my first-ever personalized Google map, detailing the most direct route from the museum to the park. I can't guarantee that this is the most scenic route, and Sarah may tweak the map once she rides her bike through the zone a few times to ascertain which is the most scenic route, but I can say with full confidence that none of the neighborhood streets are ugly.
Click on this link, and check out my mapping skillz. I wasn't a Webelo back when Carter was prez for nothing.

Okay, enough about me, looking forward to dancing with everyone in a few short weeks.

This Blog is Pathetic!

I apologize to those who check this blog much more often than we write. That's annoying. We've been busy. Since February, I've been teaching middle schoolers at an alternative school (Salmon Bay) in Ballard. Rafer's been buying and selling well-made wines by good people. Together, we're settling into our new home and planning the aforementioned wedding.
This week I chose fabric for my wedding dress and went square dancing with Rafer (I went strawberry picking too). Rika (http://rikarika.net/) is making my dress and is a friend of my god-sis Hilary. She's an artist who incorporates vintage kimono fabric in her stuff. I love it.
Rafer and I went to the Tractor Tavern for square dancing with The Tallboys (http://www.thetallboys.com/), our wedding band. We discovered them at Seattle farmers markets. I love that Charmaine brings a board to clog on, and she uses handmade wooden taps too. She teaches a clogging class on Sundays at a community center ($6.50/drop in). If you'd like to go, tell me. We should go.
See you soon!

Back to Business

The wedding is falling in to place, it seems. We've practically booked a band and we're working on food. The to-do list is long but I have spring break coming up, a perfect time to acquire addresses, taste cake, and get going on invites.
We've also been thinking about our friend/family resources. We don't want to burden ANYONE with our wedding, but we do have a favor to ask.
- Seattlites, do you have a guest room and would you mind putting up an out of town guest or two?
Let us know if you do. We'll match you up with someone good, guaranteed.
Above are some photos from France and Switzerland. It was fun. The highlights were cheese, pastries and old friends.
