Boxes, Wrapping and Bows

I talked to my recently married god-sis yesterday, she and her husband just opened their gifts. They were horrified by the packing waste that acculmulated as a result. I can imagine. Please know that we don't need or want extra wrapping. Less or none is fine. Heck, no gifts is fine too. Rafer and I are not lacking stuff. Don't the Beatles sing a song about that? Prizes to whomever knows what song I am refering to. Leave a comment to win.

Our Top 10

When visiting Seattle you can't go wrong with Pike Place Market. Right? We have some other favorite Seattle sites to hit when visiting Seattle. Check out our top 10...

10. Like NYC and Montreal, we have the Olmsted brothers to thank for much of our urban greenspace. Go to the watertower at Volunteer Park and learn more. Go to the Asian Art Museum while you're there.

9. If you like museums, go to the Frye Art Museum (http://www.fryeart.org/ It's FREE!!

8. Swim in Lake Washington. Don't be afraid of milfoil, it's harmless.

7. Have tea at the Panama Hotel in the International District. During Japanese Internment, folks at the Panama Hotel stored personal items of intered Japanese Americans. Some of that stuff is still in the basement and you can gaze at it from above and check out interesting photos of the time. They have nice tea too.

6. Visit the Seattle Art Museum Sculpture Park. We're not WILD about some of the sculptures but the view is unbeatable, the ambiance is lovely and the flora is well chosen and its uses by native peoples is described. Fascinating!

5. Go to the Ballard Locks, see boats, trains, salmon migrating, herons, and sometimes sea lions taking advantage of the easy fishing.

4. Ask a Seattleite for a walking route and go for a walk! Sarah's current favorite is from our house, through the neighborhood to the Shilshole waterfront, along that and through Golden Gardens Park and back into the neighborhood.

3. Ask a Seattleite for a bicycle route and ride! Rafer's current favorite is his commute across the locks over the edge of Magnolia on a trail through the train yards, Myrtle Edwards Park, past the scultpure garden, along the waterfront toward SODO.

2. Do the Seattle Underground Tour. And if you do, invite Sarah because she's never been and REALLY wants to go.

1. Sail Lake Union on the Ice Cream Cruise (http://www.seattleferryservice.com/) and if you do, invite us both 'cause doesn't that sound fun!?

What did we leave out? Leave a comment and tell us.

Gifts

As if love weren't gift enough.
We are blessed with almost every thing we need. But, there are a few things that we would like to have.
1. We'd love it if our wedding enriched others and the earth. Please consider donating to one of our favorite organizations in lieu of a gift. We like People for Puget Sound, The Nature Conservancy, The Cascade Bicycle Club, and the PCC Farmland Trust.
2. We are registered at a fabulous home furnishings/functional art import store in Fremont called Bitters (
http://www.bittersco.com/) owned by two lovely sisters. They don't yet have an internet based registry but they can send you a list of registry items. Consider visiting them in Fremont at 513 N. 36th street seattle, wa 98103.
3. We are also registered at Crate and Barrel http://www.crateandbarrel.com/gr/guest/findregistry.aspx and Sur La Table http://giftreg.surlatable.com/slt/grws
